• What more could you ask for from a single hour? …a bit different from your normal Lit Fest fare.   Whether you learned something about Dickens or took away some of the salient facts from the ‘street’ version of the writer, there was something for everyone… fun, informative and above all, good for a laugh.

Based on the 1847 St Austell clay worker bread riots and featuring the talents of Scary Little Girls’ Sharon Andrew as Assistant Director, As Well Be Shot As Be Starved has been developed as part of a larger, Heritage Lottery funded community project. The play runs from 9th-13th July (with additional matinee performances on 11th and 13th) at the St Austell Brewery, a great and atmospheric venue which has supported SLG in the past.

For a wealth of historical and cultural background head over to www.breadriots.com, where you can also find out how to get involved with the project.

Booking is through the Cornish Riviera Box Office.
