Rebecca Mordan

Since graduating from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Rebecca has appeared in a variety of stage, screen and television roles, including the transatlantic cult hit Lexx, White Fire for the BBC and South West Films and DM Thomas's Hellfire Corner.  In 2003, she founded Scary Little Girls Productions in answer to the lack of positive environments enabling artists to create original productions and develop their projects and themselves.  Rebecca has also fostered strong working relationships with a wide variety of industry, business and community groups in both Cornwall and London, including theatres, independent cinemas, charities and NGOs, media and PR companies, government bodies, schools, colleges and youth workers.  SLGP also focuses on matrifocal story-telling and promotes female protagonists and creatives.  As well as adapting Bram Stoker's Dracula for the company, creating the highly acclaimed script for The Kisses, Rebecca was producer for Maria Stuart, The Ladies Cage (an original commission based on her idea and research), Sweet Witchery and Dark Fancies.  Rebecca is an accomplished compère who has performed regularly at the Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts since 2004.  She spent summer 2008 in Edinburgh at the Gilded Balloon in a pro-sex, anti-porn cabaret show called The Riot Showgrrrls Club which was received with four and five star reviews and will be touring venues in London in spring 2009 as a result.

What we say about Rebecca:

All of us at Scary Little Girls feel so privileged to be on the receiving end of Rebecca's impassioned support and creative generosity. Rebecca has worked tirelessly to find us all a platform in which we can flourish creatively, building and sharing our individual talents. Over the years, the sheer diversity of SLG productions has been testimony to Rebecca's vision; a vision which has at its heart the marriage of equality and creative expression. To be in a room with SLG artists is a rare and wonderful experience - one where you feel your whole voice is heard, where your talents are revelled in, where you make the creative partnerships you treasure forever. This is all thanks to Rebecca's incredible mind and talent, her revolutionary vision, and her unfailing commitment to finding the most beautiful, diverse art forms across context, across genre, and in the nooks and crannies where the most special things hide.
