The short version:
Hannah Nicklin is by varying degrees a jazz-hound, electro-fiend, punk-rocker, cheese-eating, wine-drinking eco-socialist-anarchist-cyber-feminist. And then some. She writes plays, works with arts organisations and theatre companies on their digital footprint, blogs, and is also doing a PhD in theatre and digital technology (for more info, see her website).
The Long version:
Hannah graduated from the University of Birmingham's prestigious Playwriting Studies Masters course in July 2009. Previous to this she achieved a first class BA(hons) in Drama at Loughborough University, where she was also awarded the 2007 drama prize for outstanding achievement. Hannah has had workshopped productions at the Lakeside Theatre, Nottingham and the Birmingham Hippodrome. East Midlands Creative Writing Initiative Crystal Clear Creators have produced Hannah's radio play Prometheus and Sisyphus, and a producer at the BBC has also shown an interest in her work. Most recently Hannah was invited onto the Royal Court Young Writers Programme and undertook an 11 week course led by Leo Butler and Box of Tricks Theatre Company have comissioned a short 15 minute piece for a showcase of new theatre writing in early 2010. After being involved in the first of the SLGP Salons, Hannah is working with them on a piece of spec-fic theatre, that imagines a single child policy effective in Europe.
Hannah is to begin a PhD in Theatre and (digital) Technology at Loughborough University in October 09, and is extremely interested in the ethics of the digital world, and how this can and should cross over into the facilitation, creation and subject matter of theatre and other arts. She has written an article titled The Digital Ceiling on women and tech for Subtext Magazine, and blogs on regularly on theatre and technology. Hannah has written a guide to Twitter for Arts Organisations, which is currently being used by Arts Council England's Get AmbITion initiative and has recently been asked to speak at a conference in 2010 regarding theatre and digital tech.
