*Press release* “Pan intended”

peter panEnjoy the original version of J.M. Barrie’s beloved play… at Cornwall’s favourite theatre

This autumn, Scary Little Girls will perform an all-female production of Peter Pan at the Minack Theatre, using the play’s original script.

On Monday 26th September the nationally renowned group – whose last Minack show, Dracula: The Kisses, was a sell-out hit – will commence a five-day run of the much-loved play.

SLG Artistic Director, Rebecca Mordan, said: “Many people think they know Peter Pan, having seen a pantomime or film, or Disney cartoon… but there is simply no beating the original and best version of the story – as J.M. Barrie wrote it in 1904. That is the version we are performing.

“Peter Pan is, to my mind, perhaps the greatest piece of literature in the English canon. It is a tale of magic, humour and pathos – entertaining for children, but also possessing a surprising depth for the more mature audience members to enjoy.”

Staging such a play at The Minack is not without its challenges. As a result, SLG are working closely with a host of local talents – from sound and lighting to puppets and prop design – to ensure the play is the best it can be.

Rebecca continues: “With something for the whole family to enjoy, the play is an excellent opportunity to see a classic piece of theatre in perhaps Cornwall’s most beautiful venue. This production is sure to capture the hearts of those who are familiar with the story, as well as those experiencing it for the first time.”

Peter Pan runs from Monday 26th September until Friday 30th September with matinées on Wednesday and Friday. Tickets cost £11.50 / £9 for adults and £6 / £5 for under 16s and are available from https://www.minack.com/event/peter-pan.
