Literary Cabarets

Since 2008, as well as these acclaimed cabaret and variety nights, which bring together music, performance, comedy and audience participation in an intimate and engaging atmosphere, Scary Little Girls have also run highly successful site-specific, spoken word and literary-based, theatrical events.  So we combined our twin loves in one marvelous night that will appeal to fans of the theatrical arts and more classical tomes!

These affectionate celebrations take the life and writings of some of our most adored British authors and homage them in cabaret style with music, audience games and sketches.

In The Marvellous du Maurier Miscellany! for example, we present:

  • ¨ original music and some well-known favorites by singer-songwriter Kate Kerrow based on Daphne du Maurier's poetry and the music of her youth
  • ¨ a lively rendition of her hilarious short story, The Supreme Artist
  • ¨ sketches based on the most amusing, moving and famous moments in her books performed by Scary Little Girls actors
  • ¨ a quiz which tests the audience on their knowledge of all things Daphne and asks them, "What would Daphne do?"

or on one of our Wilde Nights you might find:

  • ¨ The Canterville Ghost
  • ¨ Ladies and Bracknells
  • ¨ Green carnations
  • ¨ And of course, a handbag...

These immersive and fun-filled events have delighted literature aficionados and theatre fans alike and are available to book themed to the following authors -

  • ¨ The Brontes
  • ¨ Wilkie Collins
  • ¨ Daphne du Maurier
  • ¨ Dante and Christina Rossetti
  • ¨ Oscar Wilde

Or tell us your favorite author and we can create you a bespoke literary cabaret extravaganza - go on, we love a challenge!
