WRAITHS AND STRAYS

A celebration of the "other" and all things gothic at the Crypt Gallery, Euston Road - Saturday 5th of December.

Feel the quick of the modern city fall away as you descend into the crypts below St Pancras Parish Church.  The ancient graves and catacombs provide an ideal setting for this festival of the gothic which presents explorations by scary little artists into witches and wraiths, cursed compacts and wretched romances.  Submerge yourself in music, theatre premieres and story telling that span some of the best in the contemporary gothic and resurrects favourite classics of the genre.

Food and hot drinks will be served at our donations-only bar.

Programme:

12noon - 3.20pm, Witches (Burnt or Otherwise); a display of original live and visual art work created by scary little artists through interviews with a medieval historian.  These works look at the lives of women that range from the tragic to the sublime, from the fantastic to the truly bizarre.  Alarming and inspiring by turns, these eclectic creations reflect some remarkable hidden histories. Entry Free

3.30pm - 3.50pm, Hidden Lives & Unvisited Tombs, Be led by music and voice through the crypt pf St Pancras.  A beautiful and evokative elegy of hidden histories and forgotten graves.  Tickets for Hidden Lives and Unvisited Tombs only, £3

4pm - 5.20pm, Tales from Duffy's Crypt; a selection of spine-tinglers the pen of award winning author Stella Duffy read to you by some of our finest scary little actors in the ideal setting of the catacombs.  Indulge in mulled wine and minced pies for a touch of the Christmas gothics.  Tickets for Tales from Duffy's Crypt only, £7

5.30pm - 5.50pm, Kate Kerrow, associate musician for Scary Little Girls, performs a chilling acoustic set featuring warped and wonderful original material and old favorites with a twist. Tickets for Kate Kerrow only, £3

6pm - 6.30pm, The Tenth Box; rehearsed reading extract from a new play by Kate Kerrow.  World War II Medium Helen Duncan meets the most pre-eminent psychic investigator of his generation, Mr. Harry Price. During a series of arranged séances, Harry begins to uncover the secrets behind Helen's infamous materializations.  Tickets for The Tenth Box only, £3

7pm - 7.20pm, Kiosk by The Society of Wonders.  A rancid little horror play in a crisp sugar shell.  Tickets for Kiosk only, £5

7.30pm - 9pm, Tales from the Classic Crypt; end the evening with a selection of Victorian and Edwardian classic chillers read to you by some of our finest scary little actors in the ideal setting of the catacombs.  Indulge in mulled wine and minced pies for a touch of the Christmas gothics from the pens of such favourites as E Nesbit and Charlotte Gilmore Perkins.  Tickets for Tales from the Classic Crypt only, £7
