Scary Little Girls was delighted to have been commissioned by the Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts and Literature to create and deliver a Living Word Walk in Fowey. Follow the links on the right to see pictures, audience comments and reviews (coming soon!).
Starting at the stunning Fowey Hall Hotel and enjoying the breathtaking views and historical secrets of one of Cornwall's most beautiful little towns, this Walk featured material from prolific writer Daphne du Maurier.
This event tookplace on 20th of May 2010 and we would like to thank everyone who came to the first Living Word Walk in Cornwall - and helped make it such a success!
All Daphne du Maurier material used with kind permission of the Chichester Partnership.
All the flowers for this event were generously provided by the supremely kind Treseders: Wallcottage Nursery, Lockengate, PL26 8RU - 01208 832234 or treseders@btconnect.com.
We would also like to give our especial thanks to Jonathan and Kate at the Daphne du Maurier Festival for all their kindness and support; Christian Browning for his engagement with the idea of the project and for helping us to get permission to use his mother's work; Lynn at the Fowey Tourist Information Centre and Ann at Bookends of Fowey for generously sharing their tremendous knowledge of Daphne and Fowey; James and Katie at Treseders for their unexpected and delightful contribution; and the Fowey Hall Hotel, Reeds of Fowey and The Ship Inn for sharing their spaces with us to make our Fowey Living Word Walk extra special!
While we were at the Daphne du Maurier festival, we also presented In the Wood of the World, a series of intimate storytelling evenings in the Ship Inn - check back here in the near future for more.
We basked in the atmosphere of these haunted rooms as professional actors from Scary Little Girls Productions (creators of this festival's first Living Word Walks) briought some of Daphne du Maurier's most gripping stories vividly to life.
The storytellers for this event were all Associate Artists of Scary Little Girls Productions and they include Rebecca Mordan, founder artist of the company; Sally Mortemore, Madam Pinch in the Harry Potter films; Katherine Kerrow, one of the prestigious Jerwood Foundation's bursery artists for 2010; and Sharon Andrew, one of the stars of the recent Cornish tour of Nick Darke's The Riot.
"This teller is done but the story goes on, with its tail in its mouth and its mouth in the wood..."
