Wondrous Collaboration

Scary Little Girls are excited to reveal news of their upcoming collaboration with live arts group The Society of Wonders.

Hot from working on commissioned shows for the South London Gallery and the National, the Wonders will be entering into a creative partnership with SLGP combining gothic script concepts and a unique design language. Born out of heated discussions between Rebecca Mordan of SLGP and Laura Trevail, a founding Wonder, on the role of the women in horror, the project looks at the female face of our fears and our fantasies, our heroes and our villains.

"Horror is one of my favourite mediums, I return to it time and again in my work," said Laura. "But I also find it frustrating because it is so rare that women really fight or even exist as more than disposable sex objects in horror and the gothic traditions. This project is really exciting because we are going to give women so much to do and really twist the audience's expectation of events on the stage. It's going to be a real gift for the actors and makers involved and a real challenge to the sub-conscious assumptions and stereotypes of those that watch it. But with lots of gory fun - what more could anyone want!"

The Society of Wonders is a loose co-operative of artists creating work in a range of media. During their two years in London, they have built a solid track record of successful live work, performing in varied venues and festivals including: National Review of Live Art, Duckie, Lovebox, Stranger Than Paradise, Arrivano Del Mare (Italy), the Shunt Vaults, the Oxo Tower, South London Gallery, and the Royal National Theatre. The Society of Wonders artists work independently, collaboratively and to commission.
