The Island Project

This programme aims to provide children with life skills of confidence, emotional intelligence and empathy.

Scary Little Girls recognise that bullying and hate-crimes often stem from low-self esteem and an undeveloped awareness of the feelings of others. We have created this programme to tackle bullying and develop emotional literacy in 4 key ways:

·         By using role-play and interactive performances to build an understanding of the nature of conflict and the possibility for peaceful resolution;

·         By fostering inclusion and a strong sense of self-worth in all the children we work with, allowing them to participate actively and with increased confidence;

·         By showing the difference between assertive and either passive or aggressive behaviour as a means of dealing with emotions and bullying;

·         By using various different arts, exercises and discussion techniques to allow children to experience processing and identifying their emotions.
